If you are on my blog, you probably already know I’m moving to Memphis. If you don’t, check this out. When I first started telling people I was moving to Memphis it usually went something like this: “Well, I want to pursue freelance photography and need to move to a bigger city to do that. Also, I have some friends there. There are a lot of really cool things happening to renew the city and I want to be a part of it. The culture is really rich there. Oh, also, my girlfriend lives there… not that it’s about a girl…”
My fear was that “my girlfriend lives there” would immediately make everyone think my decision to pick up my whole life and move was silly or immature. Also, I fear way too much how others view me. #honesty
I sat down with my new friend John Carroll to discuss my moving/life/dreams about two months ago and gave him the same explanation. He responded to me, “That’s ok, life’s too short for it to not be about the girl sometimes.”
So I’ve embraced it. #noshame
I think I would be making the move to do freelance regardless of my dating circumstance but the placement and timing does have so much to do with us. There’s something too good going on to not make this move to this specific place.
All that to say, here are some pictures from the two weeks she came to visit. I’m working on mastering the art of the “duo-self portrait in the mirror at an antique store.”
