New Years Eve, featuring Brett and Brook’s Wedding

by Keith.

I’m not even sure how to describe how awesome this New Year’s was. Standing with one of my best friends, Brett H, as he got hitched, and partying the night away with close friends. There were so many faces I hadn’t seen in a while. I am so blessed.

Here is some music, though it probably won’t get you through the whole post:

Odd choice maybe? Death Cab’s New Year, comes off as a cynical tune about New Year’s and the way we view it societally. “So this is the New Year? I don’t feel any different…” to me, it is striking. What is the point of giving a calendar date for our goals, rather than living each day to the best of our abilities? I suppose those who really like to have milestones to look back upon (or toward) can find them useful, relative to where they are now, but I think that each day is choice to do/be more than we did/were yesterday. Ya mean?

So, with that, my wedding-prayer to Brett and Brook is that each day their love and affections grow for one another. Not just in a yearly retrospective way, but in a daily conscious decision and acknowledging way. I love you guys! I can’t wait to see where the Lord takes you and your family.

We went paintballing the day before the wedding. It was intense. This was the group.

After that, my parent’s cooked us our annual New Year’s Day meal consisting of black eyed peas, pork loin and sauerkraut, for good luck in 2012. Tyler, Becca, Lindsay, and Jordan joined my family. It was really special. My family doesn’t get a whole lot of time with my Columbia friends. This is my mom wearing the sunglasses with a mustache I got from Brett and Brook.

Wow. 2012 is off to a great start…

All the photos above were taken with my Fuji x100 and edited with Lightroom and VSCO. The Solars did the real photography for the wedding and they rocked it. They were really fun people to have around the whole day, and their work is great. Check them out fo’ sho.
